Calming Hibiscus and Chia Digestion Tea
A functional herbal infusion with targeted support for digestion, nervous system regulation, and metabolic balance. Packed with fiber, plant protein,
INGREDIENTS:
• organic chia seeds (2 tbsp per 8-12oz of liquid)
• organic dried whole hibiscus flowers (1 tbsp per 8-12oz)
• organic peppermint (1 tbsp per 8-12oz)
• organic lemon balm (1 tbsp per 8-12oz)
• organic chamomile (1 tbsp per 8-12oz)
• organic raw honey (1 tsp per 8-12oz)
Chia seeds provide a high concentration of soluble fiber to support glycemic control, digestion, and microbiome diversity, along with alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) for anti-inflammatory support. Just 2 tablespoons has about 10g of fiber plus 5g of protein.
Hibiscus is one of my all time favorites for summer tea blends. It contains anthocyanins and organic acids that have been shown to support vascular function, blood pressure regulation, and antioxidant capacity — excellent for gentle cardiovascular support. Its natural tart flavor also primes digestion by supporting bile flow.
Peppermint acts as a smooth muscle relaxant within the GI tract, while chamomile supports parasympathetic activation and reduces digestive tension.
Lemon balm contains rosmarinic acid and mild GABAergic activity, offering gentle support for mood, stress response, and cognitive calm.
Raw honey provides enzymatic activity, polyphenols, and antimicrobial compounds, while softening the tartness of the hibiscus and improving mineral delivery. Use code KELLEY to enjoy 15% off my favorite organic raw honey from Lineage Provisions.
A simple formulation with layered physiological effects—hydrating, calming, and metabolically supportive.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Adjust amount of dried herbs based on liquid. I like to make a large 64oz jar of tea at a time, then add chia seeds once chilled. Stays fresh in fridge for 3-4 days with or without chia seeds.
• Steep dried herbs in hot water for 15-20mins, strain, then chill overnight.
• Add 2 tbsp of chia seeds per 12oz of liquid, stirring for the first minute or two to prevent clumping.
• Let chilled tea rest with chia seeds for at least 15mins to ensure chia is fully hydrated before enjoying.
